Abstract:
In this work, we present a model for automatic context-sensitive spelling correction for non-word errors in general unrestricted English texts. In case of non-word spelling correction, Aspell spelling correction software, assists user by suggesting a list of candidates. According to the candidates proposals we use three different methods and also all combinations of them. A novice method, among these three approaches presented in this work, is Dagol1 which is a new WSD (Word Sense Disambiguation) method. We used all the methods and combinations, then we evaluated the results, where experiments were test on corpora which contained artificially created misspellings. After that combinations with the best results were tested on a corpora which contained genuine errors. Evaluation results demonstrated the promising accuracy of the presented model with 88.43% precision.
