Abstract:

In last few years, license plate recognition (LPR) has been one of the useful approaches for vehicle surveillance. License plate numbers are being used to distinctively recognize a vehicle. LPR system plays an important role in many applications like traffic control and parking lots access control. The objective of this paper is to review the state-of-the-art research in license plate recognition. There have been a great number of methods proposed for license plate detection, character segmentation and character recognition.
