Abstract:
This paper introduces e-learning as distributed application based on semantic web services. E-learning environment will be proposed using semantic web technologies to improve the efficiency of constructing learning materials. The semantic web services will be used to overcome the centralized client-server issues by moving into the P2P scheme. The retrieved e-learning materials/objects (LOs) should be matched and ranked based on the needs and ontology of the e-learner. The paper will focus on the e-learning environment and its services. A general methodology for creating an ontology will be presented in this paper, and then will propose modification for the e-learner ontology (SEE Ont) by adding extra concepts that enhance the coupling between the e-learner and e-learning materials. Also, the modified SEE Ont provides the capability to do analysis and grade the performance of the e-learner for each e-learning object taken/studies. The paper presents grouping of learners based on their resources.
