Abstract:
Information systems play a significant role in providing support and assistance to decision-makers in disaster management. Early warning, remote sensing, maps, information systems, Geographic Information System (GIS) and other technologies are a set of pillars that play an important role in the success of disaster management and help decision makers to overcome disaster and reduce its damage. The aim of this research is to highlight the importance and role of GIS in disaster management to support decision-makers for obtaining information about the distribution of health facilities in the study area (Mukalla, Yemen) and details of availability of doctors, nurses, beds and ambulances. These systems and technologies help decision-makers to prepare and put future plans to know the readiness of each facility, and identify appropriate locations for new health facilities based on multi-criteria, such as (population density, far from the flood streams location, etc.).
