- Abstract:
- Mathematics is one of the most failed subjects in many schools, not only in Namibia. The failure rate is critical at Grade 12, since this is an exist point to tertiary enrolments. The need to improve mathematics passes cannot be over emphasised as most industry careers are reliant on this subject, world over. Working around the need to engage learners outside the confines of their classroom blocks, this research is proposing a Mathematics Cloud Based Learning Model (MCBLM) for secondary learners. Crafted around the social media access levels, the proposed model is anticipated to have positive contributions to mathematics pass rates for the target learner group. A qualitative research approach forms the basis on which the building pillars of MCBLM were formulated. The accessibility option of the proposed model via mobile technologies makes it cost effective and applicable to a greater populace, which is the main idea behind the model. It is the recommendation of this research informed by findings on the ground, that not a specific methodology be adopted in ensuring improvements in mathematics learning as the challenges are diverse and vary from one setup to the other.
