Abstract:
In this research, fluid flow and heat transfer of a finned microchannel containing different levels have been studied, using numerical solution for energy and fluid equations. To this end, the no slip boundary condition for all surfaces and fixed heat flux boundary condition have been used on external walls. The obtained results for no fin case have been compared to results of previous studies, which indicate perfect match. In this study, the effect of fin types on flow pattern and heat transfer of the channel has been investigated. The numerical results demonstrate that effective heat transfer of a finned microchannel, significantly, depends on the fin type. In the present work, three types of rectangular, T-shaped and triangular fins have been examined, which indicate that triangular-shaped fin has a very high effective heat transfer and has been selected as the best fin among the options available.
