- Abstract:
- In a mobile computing system, caching data items at the mobile units is an efficient way to reduce query delay, save bandwidth and improve system performance. Caching plays a key role in mobile computing because of, its ability to alleviate the performance and availability limitations of weakly-connected and disconnected operations. Caching frequently accessed data objects at the local buffer of a mobile is an efficient way to reduce query delay, save bandwidth and improve system performance. Classical cache management strategies may not be suitable for mobile environments due to the disconnection and mobility of the mobile clients. Cache management in mobile environment, in general, includes cache placement, cache discovery, cache consistency and cache replacement techniques. In this paper, we have discussed about different impact that mobile computing has had in the area of data management. In wireless communication the data availability is the most important problem, so we study on the problem of data availability and discussed about replicating mobile databases.
